Self-Expression Sunday #18
I started baking sourdough bread on a whim, not realizing how much I would get hooked. At first, it was a challenge. My starter was sluggish, my dough was too sticky, and my loaves turned out dense. But I kept at it, researching techniques, adjusting my process, and learning from every mistake. Over time, I got better at reading the dough, knowing when to stretch and fold, when to let it rest, and when it was ready for the oven. The first time I pulled out a loaf with a golden crust and an airy crumb, I felt a rush of pride. Now, baking sourdough has become a regular part of my routine. I love the hands-on process, the way it forces me to slow down and pay attention. Every loaf is a little different, but that’s part of the fun. And the best part? Cutting into a fresh loaf and sharing it with friends and family, knowing it came from my own two hands.
