Photo Friday #93

I took this photo on Tuesday when there was a lot of rain outside and the moisture caused the ice to melt and a light fog to grace the ground. I thought it was cool how we were transported to a time between the seasons.

There's just something comforting about getting a familiar food or drink even when you're traveling. I'm not big on planes, they tend to make me a bit panicky. But I love the destination and being to go get my same Starbucks order but in a new place with my best friend.

While attending a violin program in Italy a few years ago, I had the opportunity to tour a museum dedicated to displaying the work of one of the most famous violin makers in the world. I was given permission to photograph and edit one of the displays and I love how this picture captures the beauty and drama of the instrument.

I took this photo on a little weekend getaway with some friends. Sometimes getting away for a weekend, even if only a little bit out of town, and setting aside things can be really great to clear your mind. Almost like a little reset.

I took this photo in Nickels Arcade right at sunset. I was walking through and the view of the sunlight through the window was beautiful and everything it reached turned a lovely, golden color. The sunlight on my face made me feel happy and so appreciative to be in such a wonderful place. Little moments like these make life special.

This is my pandemic journal. I started it back in March of this year, but I have been journaling since February of last year. Journaling is a release, especially when you are seeking to release crap. I took this picture a few months ago while on a walk in the Matthei Botanical Gardens. I like to go to the Botanical Gardens when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed as the fresh air, beautiful paths and cute animals scurrying around always seem to calm me down and put things into perspective. If you have not yet been to the Matthei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, I highly recommend taking advantage of the nice weather and visiting the gardens as it is a great way to practice self-care and well-being!

I went out for the first time in a week last Saturday, and the amount of joy that I felt when seeing the first leaf buds of the year was genuinely astonishing. Spring is my favorite season because it reminds me that things will grow even if you forget that they will, and I think that’s a reminder that I (and maybe all of us!) definitely needed this year.

I got this really pretty Grimm’s fairy tale book a few years ago as a birthday present. For most of this time, it served a decorative purpose. Recently, out of boredom or maybe curiosity, I started reading some of the stories inside. There were the obvious ones: Cinderella, Rumplestiltskin, Sleeping Beauty. One thing I noticed while reading these stories was how they portrayed women. I know these were written in the 19th century for children, but I can’t help but scoff at the values they promote.

Thanks, Entropy

I learned about this enzyme in Biochemistry class, and in a weird way, it makes me feel better to know that organisms, including people, literally thrive on randomness. The universe tends towards entropy, so we’ll have plenty of time to get used to chaos.
